Even if it is a small one, it's still worth visiting. You can find interesting books at very ow prices (and also not so interesting books at very high prices ). For about 1.5 milion lei I got the following titles:
- Valeriu Avram, "Crucile Negre - Aviatia Puterilor Centrale deasupra Romaniei (1916 - 1917)", [Pro Historia] - Aurel Vaida, "Revolutia de la 1848-1949 in Nordul Transilvaniei", [Univers Enciclopedic] - Halil Inalcik, "Imperiul Otoman Epoca Clasica (1300 - 1600)", [Editura Enciclopedica] - Gheorghe I. Bratianu, "Sfatul Domnesc si Adunarea Starilor in Principatele Romane", [Editura Enciclopedica] - Ludmila Rotari, "Miscarea Subversiva din Basarabia in Anii 1918-1924", [Editura Enciclopedica] - Ion Donat, "Domeniul Domnesc in Tara Romaneasca (sec. XIV - XVI)", [Editura Enciclopedica] - Dumitru Sandru, "Miscari de Populatie in Romania (1940 - 1948)", [Editura Enciclopedica] - Crisan Museteanu, "Amintiri din Razboiu 1941 - 1944", [? Bucuresti ?] - Elecna Grigoriu, "Pagini din istoria invatamantului superior romanesc: de la Constantin Brancoveanu domnitorul Tarii Romanesti (1688 - 1714) la Alexandru Ioan Cuza, domnitorul Principatelor Unite (1859 - 1866)", [Fat-Frumos] - Alexandru Vlahuta, "Din trecutul nostru", [Cadran] - Gregory Vlastos, "Socrate ironist si filozof moral", [Humanitas] - Daniela Busa, "Modificari politico-teritoriale in sud-estul Europei intre Congresul de la Berlin si primul razboi mondial (1878 - 1914)", [Paideia] - Jipa Rotaru, V. Zodian, L. Moise, T. Oroian, "Antonescu - Hitler Caucazul si Crimea", [Paideia] - Aristotel, "Politica", [iri/paideia] - Publius Cornelius Tacitus, "Biografia lui Agricola - Inceputuri ale istoriei Marii Britanii", [Paideia] - Publius Cornelius Tacitus, "Germania - dialogul despre oratori", [Paideia] - Publius Cornelius Tacitus, "Istorii", [Paideia] - Platon, "Gorgias", [Paideia] - "Cronicari Munteni", [Academia Romana] - Xenophon, "The Persian Expedition", [Penguin] This post has been edited by D13-th_Mytzu on March 31, 2006 03:52 pm |

Why did you spend money on these? You can find them as etexts online (in english though). If I were you I wouldnt have bought these, unless I really had to spend that money there or I badly wanted them to feature in my bookshelf. take care -------------------- I

I enjoy books too, but I dont differentiate between ebooks and paperback. I go for the text/info, not the form. I dont want you to think I judge your option or anything, I'm just curious what drove you to buy them. For me that is something "foreign" and interesting, and thats the source of my curiosity. Hope you werent offended. take care -------------------- I

I think you're in the minority here, Imperialist. I'm not likely to pull up a copy of "Gorgias" online, but the copy of Plato's works that is on my bookshelf does get pulled down occasionally. I don't keep a laptop on the table by my bed, but there are always books there. I know lots of work is going in to developing competitors for ink-on-paper books, but publishing is not dead yet. That said, I know I would be a wealthier man if I did things your way. |

I dont think printing is dead, in fact most ebooks end up printed if not in full at least in selected parts. Nah, this isnt about wealth. More about managing resources. If I were there I would've spared that money to buy other books, preferrably ones with no etext version already available. Or buy a beer. Why pay for those books when paying for my internet connection can include access to those books. Another reason why it isnt about wealth is because there are old book stores from which I could buy most of those books cheaper, but I dont because I find it more useful to read them in english. I dont think much about books (as objects) per se, but about the knowledge they incapsulate. If that knowledge will be transmitted via paper, html code or IV tubes (2050), I really dont care. take care -------------------- I

Imperialist - I do not enjoy reading books on a computer or printing them then reading. I would rather have a real book in my bookshelf. It's that simple.
But each with his own taste. |

Didn't get to that one, atm I am reading "the persian march" and "ajutoare romanesti la manastirile din sfantul munte athos" (which btw is a great piece of work).
