Thank you Victor!

May these comrades rest in peace and be honoured and remembered.

Do I understand well that no Romanians died in Iraq then?

No, there was at least one killed in Irak and several wounded, but I can't give you exact numbers.

I have finished counting. The number of wounded in Afghanistan so far is 35.

I remember of 2 killed. One in an IED attack on an Italian patrol vehicle and one killed himself.

Here's the complete list of Romanian Army KIA and WIA, and exact causes:

http://www.defense.ro/misiuni/memoriam.php

11 killed in Afghanistan (7 by IED blasts, 4 shot - the last one was a Special Operations member) and 2 in Iraq by IED
I don't see any case of suicide.
The number of wounded is at 50 now.

Well, if the statistics on the link you provided are correct - I don't see any reason wht they shouldn't - it's obvious that the third death in Iraq was not combat related. As with all shameful things in Ro, it was "swept under the carpet", so there is no mention about it on MApN site... if it was, say, a road accident it would have been listed.

2 lives AFAIK.

This and Afghanistan are the prices we pay for NATO membership, foreign investments and economic boom in the last years.

Well, if you`re in Nato, you need to go to Afghanistan. If you`re in Warsaw Pact, you need to go in Cehoslovakia cool.gif
Beeing in a alliance has its price, but the price you pay is usually smaller than the price you pay when you aren`t in an alliance, or in one that can`t help you when you`re in trouble (like the case of Romania at the beginning of WW2).

But is it really better for us that we pulled back from Irak? I mean, there was a place for many soldiers to earn an honest (although very risky) day's money...
