Romanian air-to-air missiles

Are there some data and photos of the RAV-RS missiles? Were these tested? How about the others (A-90,A-91,A-921/H-23) did they entered production? Thank you!

That is actually a good question.

But I'll take a lucky guess and say that some of the above types are probably, cheap copies of some Israeli types, like the Raffael Phython 3.

RAV-RS (rachete aviatie- raza scurta) was a licence copy of R-60(rear aspect one).
A-90 from what I know is a licence copy of the old R-2US.(older Mig 21 could cary those)
A-91 was a R-3S licence.
A-921 was suppose to be a copy of R-23.(i think reached the stage of prototype- missile was created for Mig23 plane).

Only A-91 was produced in quantity.

Thank you for these informations! Well, i think that the R-921 was created for the IAR-95.This is another very interesting subject! I have found some pics of the A-91 and A-90 on Electromecanica Ploiesti site plus CA-94 and CA-95 pics. Also on INCAS site i found some very,very interesting pics of various proposals for our supersonic fighter. the design with twin fins and two engines is clearly awesome!
I wonder what would happened if we were able to built such a fighter...Sticking to

IAR-95,by any chance are some infos on its weapon systems,especially radar?
Also the engine should be a RR Spey copy? thanks!

Both the A-90 and A-91 have been produced under licence.

Absolutely no connection between the types of missiles listed by mach2 and Python-3. And btw, A-921 is not an air-to-air missile but air-to ground.

There's no R-2US (probably a typo). You meant probably RS-2US.
A-921 is not related to R-23 but H-23 (another typo?).

It is not R-921 but A-921, and it was not created for IAR-95, at least because when the work on A-921 started, IAR-95 program just shelved. IAR-95's engine was supposed to by Spey indeed. I'll post on a new thread some info regarding the Romanian Supersonic Program attempts.

The first was a typo.
But second i was under impression that we did tried to make the R-23 missile for Mig-23.
H-23(Kh-23) was indeed the air-ground missile.

Romania also recently license produced about 200? Magic-2 short range AAM! I am not sure if they used Mig-21 Lancer's or not.

RoAF only got 100 (not 200) missiles in 2003-2004. At least according to SIPRI. Fact is they were ordered in 1996, so it is likely that some technological transfer occured, and some parts were made or assembled here. Anyway the number is too small to be profitable to license - produce them entirely.

Of course they are. Why in the world would we purchase any if it couldn't be used by our main fighter-bomber. Check airliners.net, you'll find a bunch of Lancers with Magic II practice rounds (no fins).
It can also be used by the IAR-99 (only on the upgraded Soim version, not on the Standard).

Well, i've been looking for this for at least 12-13 years by now , pictures of the RAV-RS. First read about it in TOP GUN and Military Observer when i was a kid. I knew it's sort of an R-60 copy , but still wanted a picture .
