New Romanian 9mm Handgun?, Carpati/TT Replacement

Carefully browsing some websites, I've come across a new Romanian 9mm pistol that closely resembles the Israeli Military Industries(IMI) "Baby Eagle". On the Romtehica website, it is called the "9 x 18 mm pistol Md. 2000"; while RomArm has no name for it, it does provide a low resolution(crappy) picture. But the best info on this piece comes from the "Studentii Academiei Fortelor Terestre" website which actually has a full description of the firearm does not mention an actual name or origin.

Has anyone come across this thing yet, any LE/Military personel that can confirm this?
Last I knew Romania was intending to purchase(and apparetly even manufacture) the Glock 17 in 9mm(or maybe Glock 22 in .40SW ).

I bet Romania aquired a few of them, but the question is, are they actually being produced here? Are they entering full service or just being tested?

The Jericho is sort of a copy of the Tangpolio...

Should have gone for the Sig Sauer P226 the best handgun in the world IMO.

Well the Tangpolio is a copy of the CZ,that's true,but the IMI got the licence from the Italians..
When the IMI started building the Jeriho,the cold war was still going on.
So no colaboration with CZ.

Unfortunatelly there is no such thing as the World's best hangun. Comparing hanguns is many times like comparing apples and oranges, specially when you talk to members of different law enforcement agencies and needs; ask the US Border services, they will say the Beretta 96 Brigadier in .40cal; talk to the US military, they will be split between their 9mmM-9(Beretta 92FS) and the old Colt Government in .45. Then there are the toy-looking Clock, and the mean looking SIG Sauer and Hecklers. They're all great guns.
In this context, the Baby Eagle is not any worse than any of the above mentioned handguns...it it is just f...ugly (in my opinion)
And as far as my choice...Beretta M9

Uzina Mecanica Cugir is assambling Glocks 17 from original austrian parts.Some romanian police units are using Glock 17 in 9mm Parabellum chambering.

However I didn't quite understand the explanation regarding the Md2000; is it an improvement over the Jericho/Mod 95 or an improvement of the High Power, because(no offence) but the Romanians(or the Hungarians and Bulgarians , for that matter) cannot possibly improve a Browning HP

I agree with Suburban. It is well past time to give "Eastern" Europeans credit for technical achievements.

I use an HS2000 built in Croatia for my self-defense pistol. It is .40 cal. and works perfectly.

I hunt squirrel, rabbits, and stray cats with a CZ452 built in the Czech Republic; I once owned a CZ601 and would love to own a CZ550 in 9.3x62 for hunting.

My favorite rifle ever was the Romanian PSL. I wish I still owned it, but I made a bunch of money when I sold it

I look forward to owning many more things Romanian/Hungarian/Bulgarian etc. in the future, as I want to see that part of the world prosper. Certainly, it is their time, for once.

Indeed, is an minor improvement of the Mod.95 regarding the new grips and sights,but not a technical major one.

Is it the one sold under the Springfield banner?
