so no (romanian) mechanics were trained for the new planes. ( if i understand correctly)
wich gives me 3 questions 1- the other (older) german planes like 109 e were they serviced by germans aswell? 2- with the romanian aircraft industry as it was i cant imagine that there were no qualified people that couldnt be trained (the fins did thier own serviceing, also on G type) why didnt the germans train romanian technicians? 3-After the romanians went on the allied site, who did the servicing then |

Only the pilots joined JG3 and that only for a certain period of time. The only thing 100% Romanian in jg3 then were the pilots the planes and ground crews were supplied by the germans.
You might be confusing the things here... the 109E, and later G, were serviced by romanian crews but the planes flown by romanians along Jg3 had german crews. Romanina ground crews were trained and were used, but not in Jg3. |

No, because obviously Rumania did not get aircraft from Germany any more. Gen. Dénes P.S. Actually, a few captured ex-Luftwaffe aircraft were asigned suffixes following the Aug. 23, 1944 defection. |

The Rumanians just kept the existing tail numbers. Why change it?
Gen. Dénes P.S. It was I who sent to Martin Pegg the photo of Hs 129 B-2, No. 222b. P.P.S. The colour profile is not accurate, as it doesn't show the upper wingtips as white, despite the photo. This post has been edited by Dénes on May 19, 2006 07:50 pm |
