I reckon it would be in vain to ask if anyone of you has already read this book to give me a short review, so I am rather asking if anyone of you could please translate for me this upper short review text by Eugen Uricaru.

Also would someone of you be willing to help me to purchase this book - [I of course cover all the expenses plus postage]? If my Romanian language skills have not failed me this book deals with Romanian Bukowinian soldiers in the Austro-Hungarian Army in the captivity in Siberia and Italy. Am I right?

From the battles in the Italian Mountains to the captivity in Siberia, the Romanian peasants from Bukovina go through a complex adventure in which the self-exploring combines with self-understanding. This part of the Romanian history is not unknown, but neither known. The introduction in the landscape which belongs to this fragment of national history can be done in may ways, with different means. One of the ways is literature, one of the means is the document-novel.

I'm sorry Klemen, the fragment does not make much sense in Romanian either. But it is (unfortunately) in the style of Romanian art critics.

Yes, very confusing text indee, BUT I presume we can assume from all this that this is a monography about Romanian POWs from Bukowina who have been captured and kept in POW camps in Siberia and Russia, am I right?

I am not exactly sure if the author-reviewer got this right. Judging by replies I would say that this is neither known but unknown.

Anyway, thank you again for kind translation. Much appreciated. I still remember your short translations about Romanians on the Italian Front from a year or so ago when I started my thread.

BTW: Do you think any of your Buchurestaner/Romanians could help me to order this book from this bookshop? I am somewhat reluctant to send them an e-mail because usually these people on the other side ofthe wire don't speak English or German, so... Anyone? Please.

Unfortunately I have no idea what type of book this is.

I think this is a monography about Romanian POWs from Bukowina in Siberia and Italy. The problem is that the reviewer wandered a bit with his poetical review and confuse us.
Anyway, I have sent the bookshop my e-mail this morning - in German and English. Now only God can save me.
