QUOTE (horia @ June 02, 2007 10:42 am)
another interesting picture with Rabo inside "ASTRA"factory

user posted image

in the book Constructii Aeronautice Romanesti about RaBo1 is written "Radu Onciul proposed the Astra factory of Arad to manufacture this plane but his initiative was rejected.Radu Onciul also addressed himself to Fratii Shiel machine factory of Brasov. They accepted to manufacture the plane..." but if you look in the picture I posted, the plane is constructed near a railway carriage. So, why this plane is in the ASTRA halls and not in Fratii Shiel factory?

This is a well known photo of No. 39, published several times IIRC.
How do you know it was Lungulescu's mount?

It's the Lioré-Olivier 20 B.N. 3

Locotenent comandor av. Laurenţiu C. Constantin received the Virtutea Aeronautica Order Gold Cross class in 1935. In his citation was also mentioned that he led the formation of Lioré-Olivier in the Paris - Bucharest raid in 1929 (probably when the airplanes were brought to Romania).
