I was reading about the operations against the Eltigen bridgehead in 1943 in 'Third Axis, Fourth Ally'. On page 131 of this book I noticed the following:
'These (some tanks captured after the liquidation of the Soviet bridgehead) formed the bulk of the 41 captured tanks (4x T34, 4x T38, 1xKV1, 4x Lee, 5x Stuart, 4x Valentine and 19 unspecified 'Vickers' tanks) evacuated to Romania in March 1944... ' I am wondering, whenever I see 'Vickers' tanks I usually think of the T26. Did the Soviets still have the T26 in service in 1944? Perhaps they were still used in landings? Or were these tanks captured in 1941 and only shipped back to Romania with the others? |

According to this site, the T-26 was used until 1945, being the most common tank in the Red Army and the most manufactured tank in the world: http://www.silentwall.com/T-26.html |
