Bathroom question!!, what happens if you need to go?

Its kind of a dumb question but what did they do in the army if they needed to use the toilet/bush? what if it was in the middle of combat and you REALLY had to go! Is it different for different armies?What if it was in a tank?
Keep those bathroom joke yet informative replies up!!

During battle you do your things in the tank.
During battle ,you may do them in your pants anyway.

The infantry do the big thing on the shovel if they were in the foxholes, throwing the result out the foxhole. After that, it was a matter of luck from where the wind was blowing, if one have to stay several days in the same foxhole.

If you are blocked in a foxhole you could use the shovel also to berry the product. Of course you could use the shovel also in the tank. Aniway an action with a tank would take several hours let`s say, until you run out of fuel and ammo than you retreat to the R&R point. It`s not like you drive it for days.

A veteran airman once told me when the alarm sounded signalling an incoming USAAF formation they have to take off to fight with, the first place some of the newbies quickly went was the field toilette, and to make No. 1 or No. 2...

Tanks invariably have various expendable containers on board...and if recently or currently engaged, there should be no shortage of spent cartridge cases in which to relieve yourself if stopping to dismount is not an option (however unlikely).

Now, I wonder if a spent 37 mm (3,7 cm) cartridge case (as in the case of the Romanian R 2) could be much of a relief...

Well, tankers have an abundance of ammo cans if a suitable diameter cartridge case does not fall readily to hand. Take my word for it.
