Could somebody translate ithe following text into English:
AvM |

23 August and 5 September 1844 had dramatic consequences for the Romanian Royal Navy, caused by the assault of the German and Soviet forces and the disarming of the war vessels; the Constanţa harbour together with the war vessels and installations remained under the exclusive control of the Soviet Navy Command. After WWII Romania lacked in the first years seafaring military vessels and to a certain extent even fluvial ones, as the Romanian vessels were included in the fleet of the Soviet Union, and through the establishment of the SOVROMTRANSPORT it was controlled and robed of important revenue. After the Convention of Armistice was signed, 18 seafaring military vessels and 23 commercial vessels were returned on 12 October 1945, 27 May 1946 and 21 and 24 June 1951. Once the river monitors were recommissioned the Danube Flotilla was established which was renamed the Fluvial Brigade in 1959. After the Soviet troops departed from Romania, new types of military vessels started to be built in the Romanian yards, as the base sweepers (?) built at Galaţi and Brăila until 1954, the harbour sweepers (?) at Galaţi or the river sweepers (?) built at Olteniţa between 1956-1959. In parallel were purchased from the USSR several torpedo boats, submarine hunters and missile-carrying boats. In 1962 the 42nd Maritime Division was established. |

The SovRoms were mixed Soviet-Romanian companies set up in 1945 and 1946 with the official purpose to supervise the payment of Romania's debt to the Soviet state. In reality they were used to drain the Romanian resources in the interest of the Soviet state. SovRoms were established for all the sectors of economy, with SOVROMTRANSPORT being the first of them (established on 19.07.1945). Examples of other SovRoms: SOVROMPETROL (oil), SOVROMBANC (banking), SOVROMLEMN (wood), SOVROMMETAL (steel), SOVROMCHIM (chemical products), SOVROMCONSTRUCŢII (building), SOVROMMETALE NEFEROASE (other metals), SOVROMCĂRBUNE (coal), SOVROMASIGURARE (insurances). |

Moreover it is very interesting which ships their useed as well which and when these "18 seafaring military vessels and 23 commercial vessels were returned on 12 October 1945, 27 May 1946 and 21 and 24 June 1951" were returned. The Wikipedia link indicated above mentions the dissolution of the SovRoms in 1956. Maybe it applies to SovRomTransport as well.
I did a search on Google for SovRomTransport and I have found a reference to a book (Atanasiu, Carmen; Cojoc, Mariana; Atanasiu, Andreea. Navigaţie şi ... politică. Ed. Muntenia & Leda, Constanţa, 2001, 224 p.) which is said to have a chapter with annexes dedicated to SovRomTransport (see http://www.biblioteca.ct.ro/biblion2004_ht...blion_pg_21.htm). OT: Would this thread fit better in The post-WW2 and recent military? |

I just realised that at least one SovRom was dissolved earlier than 1956. TARS (Transporturi Aeriene Româno-Sovietice), the SovRom 'Airline', became Tarom on 18 September 1954 after the Romanian state bought the Soviet share.

I have found another SovRom, SOVROMCUARŢIT, which 'supervised' the mining and exporting of Uranium ore from the Carpathians.
