In the June 2006 issue (#118) of the “Dosarele Istoriei” magazine, there is a short advertise to the “Aeronautica Romana pe Frontul de Est (1941-1944) book, written by Aurel Pentelescu and published by Ed. Universitatii Nationale de Aparare “Carol I “ Bucuresti 2006, 263 pages.
Does anybody from our forum colleagues from Bucuresti know where could this book be purchased? Any information about this subject is most appreciated! |

Several days ago, I wrote an e-mail to the publisher regarding this book, but received no reply.

Yes, that's the address. I just re-sent the e-mail, this time as a firm order with 'ramburs'. Let's see what will happen.
There is a tel. number too on the official web site, perhaps you should try calling them. Gen. Dénes |

I emailed them too, but got no reply.
Has anyone managed to make contact? Radu |

I managed to talk with author Aurel Pentelescu about this book. It was published in small quantity (aprox. 20 pcs) for university diploma master (or something like this). But he promised he will try a second edition for this book in larger quantity. |

Were those few books sold by the Publisher, or by the Author? Did you get one for yourself?

Some of them were kept for University library and others given (not sold) by the author to some people (not me) . Next time I will ask if he can borrow me his personal copy. This post has been edited by Cantacuzino on September 18, 2006 09:39 pm |

As Cantacuzino explained, this was a thesis/dissertation (proiect de diploma). Usually, these are printed and bound in just 3 duplicates, one for the university library, one for the thesis examiner/supervisor and one (or two) for the author's bookshelf. It is a pain and it is all paid for by the author from his own pocket - I know, I wrote two dissertations of my own and bookbinding and printing ain't cheap. In these conditions, 20 duplicates is actually a feat! This means that the only one who can get this publication reissued is the author himself, either privately (DTP) or via a contract with a publisher. The university will not release it for private use (but will make it available for study in its library). HTH Radu This post has been edited by Radub on September 20, 2006 09:10 am |
