I was talking to some dude on FB last week and he argued that not only was it OK to slaughter two tank armies to get the city faster, but that use of large units of tanks was sanctioned by Red Army regulations.
I was under the impression that using tanks to fight inside of a city was a bad way of fighting, a costly and not-very-effective method. So... perhaps a poll would be better?! -------------------- M

Red Army have many tanks units ,and if is necesary they put in the city 5,6 tank armies ) AAAA this is not a good ''very-effective method '' you are right . |

...in the spring of 1945 the Red Army did not have (anymore) human reserves. Tanks, yes, they kept on manufacturing them, but soldiers WERE LESS AND LESS. Thus the "cost effective" strategy that could have been the mark of a good general. But it was NOT. -------------------- M
