Only Odessa will be a concrete runway. This is due to a citation from Rudels diary. Other AF's not so far, although I have some pics of "Pipera" which show concrete places. But Pipera is near Bucarest afaik.
Does anyone have aerial pics of AF's in the area, may the be moder (and in colour) or historical? mail them to pirx@88-iap.de then, please! PS: Mytzu, I have already solem from you,I know. Here another pic with most of the map & AF's This post has been edited by yogy on January 25, 2007 11:10 am |

We have the objects finished:
The castel is the one near Jassy called "Stanca". There was heavy fighting in May/June 1944 and teh castel was totally destroyed. Then, the Axis side held the hill wincl. castel until 23rd of August 1944... |

Is there an update to this map?
I am mainly interested in the exact location of airfields close to River Dnestr (e.g., Salz), used by ARR warplanes. Gen. Dénes |

Here is a rare German period map of the Trans-Dnestra (Transnistria) region from Oct. 1941. Maybe it helps locating a few obscure places.

Where was Baden airfield located? I know it was close to Salz, in Trans-Dnestra, but was it at North or at South? This would be important.
Thanks, Gen. Dénes |

BUMP . Messerschmitt, the map is not yet available to public. In ca. 2weeks, there will be a download patch, just check the Ubi-forums. Then you can play on it in "1946"-game. This post has been edited by yogy on August 27, 2007 12:12 pm |

Guys...at least two temporary airfields were operational(albeit for short than couple of months),in Bacau County:
1.Solid evidence of a "green take -off" and ammo dumps inside the SASCUT area(read SAAS-KOOT),some 50 kms to Bacau...,this info has been acquired from an old serviceman(1st class mechanic),still living in Bacau,in his 80's now.He was pretty bad injured anytime during late july/early august 1944,in a air/ground attack. However,he claims that at the time of attack,no planes were to be found on that make-shift aerodrome, and that the attacks(3 in total) took out mainly the flimsy buildings on that airfield. 2.An almost similar situation is to be found near Onesti(read Own-eshty),near what is nowadays the CAROM chemical factory. No real evidences were to be found here...the mentioning of this airstrip is courtesy of Mr.Albu Victor-Ionut,the individual described in my nr 1 above. He says(no reason to doubt this) that during the late july 1944,some planes came pretty damaged from this area(combat area?!?)and their flight capability and stuff was assessed on the Sascut makeshift aerodrome(he did some work on some of these, but not IAR machines)...he did mentioned some German planes, not sure if these operated by Luftwaffe\s own pilots or Romanians,i.e. BF 109's and He111). Pretty fuzzy info,imho...nevertheless,food for your thoughts! Just my 2 cents, hope this helps! Regards, JT |

Again important topic:
Too late, tanase. There were also ca. 50 Airfields of the VVS N of Iasi, which we don't model . |
