What gear would a standard infantry trooper be wearing when in a battle? I mean, theres probably a lot of gear that he would not have worn IN the battle itself but would've worn outside of it, so I guess there are some differences. Here's what I've come up with so far:

- Gas mask pouch
- Grenades
- Trench shovel
- Belt
- Boots
- Blanket
- Helmet
- Pants
- Jacket
- The little square box on the front of the belt (what is this anyway? an ammo pouch?)

I probably missed out on something, or maybe theres something in there that wouldn't be worn. If so please tell me what I'm missing, or what wouldn't be worn. Remember, I'm talking about gear worn inside battle, not outside. Thanks in advance to anyone who posts.

yes you missed a lot and i don't know the words for them in english + any standard infantry trooper has a certain function in his team, groupe platoon which involves carrying some specific equipmen for each function.

well i don't think anyone can really tell you exactly what they wore because it really depends. a standard SMG or Rifle man would wear aither a semi-trench coat (to the knees), a cap or standard helmet (pretty easy to find a picture of on google =P), sometimes an ammo pouch, on the side, and if they just wore a shirt it would depend on their rank (im assuming you mean private) usually a collar heavy shirt usually loose fitting. here is a pretty good animated picture for a game :

and this one

these are pretty good representations of a standard infantry romanian soldier.

HELMETS!!!

oh and for lighter battles or other divisions just imagine those images i gave you with a cap instead this is also the alternative standar uniform (though i think its mainly for heavy weapons)

http://www.roembus.org/english/images/isto...onala/tatra.jpg

sometimes frontline wore caps and i think most of the time it was helmets. also it makes a difference which front. on the western front they didnt wear helmets as much and the eastern front they wore helmets.

this is the standard infantry helmet (which im sure you knew)
