I don't know what type of shovel it is but I'm 100% sure it's not German from WWII.

It's a probably soviet post-war. This is German WW2 shovel (from my collection)

@Sturmpionier: I see that your shovel is under restoration, but you could have speared the bakelite nut from that shiny black paint. As you see mine has been badly mutilated at some point, the original nut and hinge are missing and the handle was broken (this explains it's odd size).
