All I found is Adj. st. av. Virgil Silisteanu, who was a Blenheim pilot.
Do you have more info on Salisteanu? |

Yes, you should try to find more info on him, so we can do a search in various archival documents.
There is no list of Rumanian pilots available on-line. |

The only internet database of WWII Romanian pilots that I am aware of is under continuous construction through the efforts of Victor Nitu and Claudiu Stumer at http://www.worldwar2.ro/arr/pilots.htm |

Dicezare didn't know Salisteanu but Nicolae Traian did flew with him for a while.
He said he was a good pilot but on his first mission he had an accident: The bombs (small ones)didn't went off. While landing they did and the plane exploded and the crew was wondded. I'll get more details soon. |

So he wasn't a fighter pilot, but a long range recon pilot on Blenheim Mk. I

That pilot was Adj. st. av. Virgil Silisteanu - a Blenheim pilot, as I mentioned - not fighter pilot Ion Sãlisteanu, Vlad is looking for. The mentioned incident happened on the very first day of war on East, either on Bârlad, or on Jorasti airfield. The radio operator/rear machine gunner died in the incident. |

Silisteanu is not a comun name...
When I asked about him ,I just said Silisteanu.... Strange is that there are almost no fighter pilots that Dicesare doesn't know! He knows everybody but never heard about this one. |

C2, Im still waiting for your answer. What´s SET?
I discovered news about Sãlisteanu, when Romania changed the side, he refused to fly with rusian against germans, he consideret it an act of defeat. So he was sent to Siberia, and after some years he escaped. Maybe thats way his name was forgoten. All his fotos were distroied by relatives that were afraid to go to jail. sad storie |
