I have a few questions on the Romanian used Mannlicher rifle.
I did a lot of research into how this gun both looks and handles, but I could not find a single quality picture of the Romanian issue. My research implies that the guns were taken from Austria at the end of World War I, but I know that each country that recieved them refitted and labelled the weapon different ways. I'm not sure if there are any markings specific to the Romanian long rifle. Information on English sites is limited. All I know is because this particular rifle hasn't been converted to the Mauser caliber, it would not have the "S" or "H" markings on the reciever ring. And about the rifle sling loops, should they be on the bottom of the gun or on the side? |

It is not clear to me if you are refering to the Romanian Mannlicher m93 or M95. The m93 had many romanian markings.

I meant the Romanian used Austrian M95. Would that not have the same markings as the M93?

No the markings on Romanian m93 and m95 were different as the m93 was specially made for Romania so on the top of the receiver had a crown and under it was stamped Md.1893 also in the era all the Romanian rifles (including the Henry Martini m79 an it's bayonet), pistols and bayonets were marked with the "Romanian Phoenix".
The M95 was a captured rifle and probably was marked by the Romanians but these marking are unknown. http://www.sunblest.net/gun/Mann93.htm |

How high are the odds that the Romanian crown was on it? And if so, where would it be located?

The odds of a captured M95 being marked with the crown are small to none, the most probable marking was the Romanian Phoenix if they were marked.
