I bought this helmet these days. It looks like an original M40 with camo paint and a hand made camo net. I was wandering ifthis was common between romanian soldiers to paint their helmets in camo or this helmet could belong to a more specialised soldier as a sniper.
I would like to know if there are pictures representing romanian soldiers with camo on their helmets.
The pictures with the helmet are here http://www.thirdreichforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=35851

I found a picture with a Romanian soldier in 44 in Hungary. He wears a "dutch" M 40 helmet. around his helmet we can see a foliage. You can find this picture in the book " the romanian army of ww2" written by M Axworthy and H Serbanescu published at osprey editions.

Yours, BM
