Thank you, Mr. Manoliu, for the identification (albeit unfortunately it came too late to be mentioned in the book). Nevertheless, I am glad the photo of your father is featured on the cover of the book...
Gen. Dénes P.S. By any chance, did the log book (carnet de sbor) of your father survive? |

Dear Denes Bernad,
This is an excessively late answer, but I tried without succes to post the pictures I have in my posession which taken during the visit of a Romanian delegation to Heinkel Werke in Rostock in 1939 . After a closer scrutiny and comparaison with the other photos I think that the picture you showed was taken as you wrote, in 1941. On your photo there is only one German officer surrounded by Romanian airmen whereas in the pictures taken in Rostock a few Romanians are speaking with German airmen and probably technicians. I will try once more to attach the photos I am speaking about. If I don't succed I will ask Victor Nitu to place them on this forum. He offered me his help. Concerning the logbook, unfortunately I did not find any trace of it nor do I remember ever having seen it in our home. I would be very intersted to read your book. Where can I order it? Friendly yours, Radu Manoliu |

Off topic. Mr. Manoliu, if you want to buy it, you can either find it in the major internet based bookstores, or, if you want a signed copy, I still have a couple of copies left, which I can offer at the publisher's price. If interested, please contact me off board for details. Dénes |

Hi Denes,
The second in the left side is, of course, Bazu Cantacuzino. Regards Julian |

No it is not Bazu Cantacuzino. It looks a little bit, but it's definetly not him. Bazu started the war in Hurricane unit 53sq at Mamaia (also with IAR 80). The picture is made with 7thFG pilots (with Me 109 Emil's) probably at Pipera airfield. This post has been edited by Cantacuzino on February 29, 2008 02:27 pm |
