A very good book:
AVIATIA DE LUPTA REACTIVA IN ROMANIA 1951-2001 / comandor PAUL SANDACHI
( a lot of information and pictures )
Editura Regina din Arcadia 2002-2004, I think.
With CD/pdf .

I want to quote something from this book, but I can't ( I am not a "master" in PC world).

Some information...on a blog..

http://realiatealuipetria.blogspot.com/200...m-furatvoi.html

and more..
"In toamna am fost mutat la CFAM in functia de loctiitor cu Radiolocatia a sefului de stat major.

http://www.presamil.ro/OM/2005/29/24.htm

and more...

In my opinion that's just some BS rumor posted by somebody who has no link whatsoever with aviation.
The only jet fighter defection in the 50's was that of Diaconu, with a Yak-23 from the 135th Reg. at Caransebes to Yugoslavia.
As I said on page 1 of this thread, the 125th was not disbanded, but moved to Alexeni and renamed 49th Regiment. In the late 50's all regiments were re-numbered (two digit instead of three)

The other Zilistea I think is in Moldova ( Bobocu ?)

Within the marked area there are:
- the road that connects the base with Baraganu railway station,
- a small residential area on the same road known once as "technical NCO colony" (colonia maistrilor).
- the railroad that connects the base with the main line Bucharest- Fetesti.

There was/is no "old runway.

I was in zone last week, and I meet a man (old professor). He told me a short story, that is possible to be real. Russian want to builtd up an A.B. in zone. Roumanian, propose former A.B. Rosiorii de Vede.
Russian deny this suggestion because americans knew very well the location from 1945.
And choose Balaci/Silistea.
Is possible. In try to prove this if is real.

Not for the entire country, but several new zones with improved resolution.
