Received an email from a person in CA. Can anyone help with validating his story?
Thanks "Greetings: I have inherited a German WWII collection of military items ,of which one item does NOT fit into my collection. The nearest info is that it is a Romanian WWII, ribbon / cuff title, possibly given by German WWII people to Romanian honorees ! In excellent condition . It is machine embroidered, block Latin script, in silver thread, "AMICO PECTUS, HOSTI FRONTE", the width is 27mm , three color strips, from top to bottom , purple ,white and orange . The nearest translation , "Honor our troops on the front ". The length is 115 cm (45.5 ") long, the text in the middle is about 230 mm long . has a metal button at one end , 18mm in diameter, and a matching button hole at the other end . If interested make me a offer ! I can send actual size photo copy if truly interested ! Best Regards, Peter " |

Hallo RHaught
I think it would be much better if you emailed the seller for a picture and then posted it here, as regards the colours they are not the Romanian National Colours, and why would the Germans award a cuff-title in pidgeon- Latin?? All German Cuff-titles were in German, and cuff-titles were designed to be sewn to the uniform sleeve. Also why make a one off? I follow the mentality of unless I see it in a period picture then it remains in the world of never-never land. Hopefully its not another iii reich fantasy item Kevin in Deva This post has been edited by New Connaught Ranger on May 12, 2007 05:25 pm |

Know cufftitles since I own three. Just wondering how the hell would he try to pass off a fake (which I am sure it is)as Romanian? |

When you see some of the items being offered on e-bay over the years such as:
the SS-Submariners badge the various Nazi and SS- stormtroopers fantasy badges and Insignia. some people will chance their arm to sell items, hoping some poor ignorant idiot will buy them. Thats why before anybody parts with their cash, research is needed. Perhaps the seller is under the impression that purple, white and orange are the Romanian National colours. Kevin in Deva. |

Kevin,
It seems that if there is always a sucker then they will try their best to get the money for a cheap repro. |

My personal favorite was the German Paratrooper badge awarded for those who made six ballon jumps.
One of a kind, played in the same league as the SS Submariner badge. Alas, there will always be buyers for this crap... Cheers, Al |
