The book is now out of print. The only possibility to find this book is in a old books shop.
I know that a new volume of “Traditii Militare” collection concerning the Romanian army of WW1, 1916-1918, will be publish at the end of 2006. It will have the same size as the other issues of the series: 350 pages with hundreds of b/w photos and 16 colour plates with uniforms, rank insignia, weapons, orders and medals, etc. The book about the Romanian Army during the Independence War. 1877-1878, still could be find and ordered at the publisher’s book shop: http://www.editurasigma.ro/R/P-carte/carte...de-independenta.
Finally it would be great if these three volumes, a trilogy about the main campaigns of the Romanian army, will be republished in better conditions. The quality of print is still a problem because is in close connection with the financial costs. It’s not easy to find money for such books and military history is not a successful topic in Romania.

The “Dorobantul” series are produced by the Military Museum and the authors try to create a Romanian version of the famous british Osprey books ( see http://www.ospreypublishing.com ). These are small size books, about 40 pages, 30-40 b/w photos, 8 colour plates. The Osprey books were first published about 20 years ago in three series: Men-at-arms, Vangard and Elite and now they have about 14 series. It was a successful initiative that educated a whole generation of military history amateurs. In many countries (Russia, Bulgaria, Hungary, …to name only a few neighbours) similar series were already produced.
The Romanian version of Osprey, “Dorobantul” try to tackle less known aspects of Romanian military history in a similar format. Unfortunately, the hurry in which these books are made, the limited financial resources and the way of choosing the editor (who bid the lowest price), affected sometimes the quality of these works. But the most important is the books are published and the information, despite some errors, is of good quality.

A new series of the National Military Museum, “Patrimoniu” (“The Patrimony”) starts with a first issue about “Foreign decorations in the patrimony of the National Military Museum”. This is a high quality book, 80 pages with full colour photos, text and captions in Romanian/English. The book will be released on 19th of December and costs about 14 New Lei (3.8 Euros). New issues on this series are announced: Romanian and foreign military uniforms, 19th Century photographs, etc.

I'm wrong again. The real price of the book on "Foreign Decorations..." is 16 New Lei ( about 4.5 Euros).

Can't wait. I have the other two books in the series and I love them.

When I bought the Independence war book from the museum years ago, mr. Scafes came to sign it and I asked about a similar book on WW1. He said then that the text will be soon ready, but the funds... I guess the funds are the problem. As you may have noticed the much smaller and cheaper books from the Dorobantul series are also delayed.

Maybe Kepi can shed some light on the subject.

Sort of pricy for my Easter budget.

That is 23.75 euro at today's exchange rate. In my opinion, that is a good price for this book.
