It is abook published in 1999: Jipa Rotaru, Leonida Moise, Ion Giurca, Costin Scurtu, " Divizia 9 Mărăşeşti (1879-1999) (La Division 9 Mărăşeşti) ", Bucureşti, Editura Punct, 1999, 253 p. It presents the evolution and combat records of this great unit from the second Balkan war of 1913 until the communist era. It also has some documents published in the appendix. |

Or in Constanta, some archive. In Calarasi was one of her infantry regiments, and there one archive of the town. Maybe, there, if you ask about prof. Nicolae Tiripan (Tziripan) you can find some informations.

Not that many I am afraid. In 1941 and for most of 1942 it ensured the defense of Dobruja against a Soviet landing. On the Eastern Front it only took part in the tragic events north of Stalingrad in November-December 1942. However, it managed to survive witout being wiped out. During the spring of 1943 it was deployed in Trans-Dnestra where it was merged with the 3rd Security Division, to make up for the losses at Stalingrad. In autumn 1943 it returned to Dobruja.
After 23 August 1944 it was engaged into continuos fighting from Dobruja to Bucharest, then Transylvania, prersent-day Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. |
