The album has the text written by Emanuel Badescu.
This album was made by the compilation of other 3 photo albums, exclusively dedicated to 1 December 1918.
The album presented in this words contains 49 photos, 7 of them being from Alba Iulia, 31 from the ceremonies from Bucharest, the other 11 photos showing different important personalities (Romanian or foreign) which contributed significantly to the Great Union from 1 December 1918.
Few people are aware that in the same day, 1 December 1918, when at Alba Iulia was held Marea Adunare Nationala, which proclaimed (a decretat) the Union of Transylvania with Mother Romania, King Ferdinand I of Romania and his wife, Queen Maria, were entering Bucharest after the refuge from Moldavia, where Romanian army fought heroically against the overwhelming numbers of enemy.
In the same day of 1 December 1918, general Mackensen’s army was in retreat in Alba Iulia area, going back to Germany, defeated. Not a single incident occurred between german army, in retreat, and Romanian population who was going to Alba Iulia that day.

Bucharest
