I am at a loss here. What do you think a PZL P.7a in Romanian markings should look like? I keep scratching my head and can't figure it out for over three months now. Ok, here's the deal; i have build a P.7 in 1/72, totally disregarded the included decals and painting instruction for they were for a Polish version , painted it to the best of my knowledge and started the decal section. This is where everything came to a screeching halt. I have never seen a picture of a P.7a in Romanian markings. I know from mr. Denes' book "Romanian Air Force - The prime decade, 38-47) that there were 13 planes purchased from the Polish plus some that fled the German invasion and sought refuge in Romania. They were mainly used for fighter pilots training purpose. Now , i can't imagine the fact that none of them was used in combat, mainly the days prior to Aug 23 when we were "defending" the homeland from the soviet invasion. Were they used as trainers all through out the war? I admit that the P.7's were absolutely no match for the airplanes of the 1944's and to claim a kill against a soviet airplane would be pure imagination but we all know that when cornered, a nation at war throws everything it has in combat. So i am just wondering if you know what the markings were; what should i use? Michael's Cross, pre-May 1941 roundels... and any other serial no's than 1-13? I know that there is a whole other discussion about this too, but for me this is all that comes down to: I have a blank model scale airplane in need of some Romanian markings.
..model and pics are from my personal collection |
