T
he site is http://aratta.ua/rumynskiy-istrebitel-JAR-80C.html
The story begins in the summer of 2003 when members of the diving club "Ararat",discovered near the vilage of Chernomorskaya, the wrek of a IAR 80.It sunk in 5 meters of water, some 50 m. from sea shore. The plane,an IAR80c,belonged to 49-th squadron which toghether whith 45 and 46 squadrons formed the 4 group. The plane was piloted by adj. av.Aurel Olaru, and it was brought down,by mistake, by german A.A.Acording to german records the pilot died in this incident.Acording to eye wittneses ,pilot managet to jump and was saved by fishermen. The date was 4 feb.1944,and it was based in Evpatoria, the plane i mean.
Now,according to the divers, the plane came down, engine runing, and was in very good condition. No human remains were found.Imediately after discovery, the local villagers started stealling parts, first coulored metals then armament etc.In sep.03 the plane was still in a reasonable condition, but then, the engine was stolen and then the rest.
The divers pretend that romanian authoryties were informed.
Does anyone have coroborating info?

Victor, do you still have the pics you posted in that old thread? The links are broken now, and I'd love to see what they found.

Hadn't found this forum yet way back then.

Well we could ask the Ukrainian divers for further photos, I think. They are correct, I have notified the commander of the Air Force Museum about it, gave him the photos and emails I received and he said he will contact the Ukrainian military attaché. I do not know what happened after that.

Nothing happened. The commander of the Air Force Museum didn't do anything to bring that pieces. He even didn't want to give us the contact of the ucrainian guys.
But anyway we will try to get that pieces on private ways.
