Hallo Seeker,biggrin.gif

some very nice and interesting items, the KAB box is Hungarian and

a rare enough item as many boxes were broken up for the fire.

The helmets are badly damaged but ok for display use.

Most important are the family photographs and the histories of the men in them,

their memory remains as long as somebody writes it down,

the same with any picture which can be positively identified.

It's an Austrian M1870 bayonet for "Werndl" M1867. Altought it was an absolete system, this rifle was used by the auxiliary units of the Austro-Hungarian army during WW1. This is the probable origin of your bayonet.

As for the your relative, only the tab insignia could show the Waffen-SS division, where he served.
