Been a while since I was around here with any frequency. The World War I project of which I am a very small part is going along and we are now down to around 35 divisions which are incomplete. Unfortunately 18 are Romanian. So my colleagues asked me to wander back here and see if the membership could provide a bit more help.
For those who've forgotten. We are trying to find a list of the commanding officers of the armies, corps, divisions of the various armies that participated in World War I. From that list we will develop a compendium showing the location of papers for as many individuals as possible. This compendium can be used for further research by academics and nonacademics alike. We lack complete commanding officers for the following Romanian units: Infantry: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20 divisions Cavalry: 1, 2 divisions We have some information already, much of it courtesy of the people at this site, but lack completeness. If people would like, to prevent duplication, I can show you what we already have on each division. Any assistance will be appreciated (and you'll get a line in the "thank you" section of the compendium--that oughta impress you to no end ). Is it possible to connect the 2 dates with who goes in the almost year long hole?

A little more specifics on 2 of the divisions:
16 Infantry was disbanded in December 1916. The only commander we have listed for it is Anastasiade. He does not show up anywhere else that we can find, including after December 1916. Does he command the division until it is disbanded? 20 Infantry Division was also disbanded in December 1916. Praporgescu commanded it until October 1916 when he was raised to corps command (I Corps). He remains there less than a month and apparently KIA. Who took over his old division? These are the kinds of problems we are trying to solve. Any help appreciated. Rich BTW we are now down to 31 divisions left in the project.
