Does anybody know the names of the different commanding officers of the Romanian Royal Guard in Bucharest prior to the 23 August 1944 ?
I am particularly interested in the failed Palace Coup where severall high ranking Army officers were involved in an atempt to reinstate king Michail (Mihai). The attempt was foiled and many of the officers were killed or just dissapeared, probably on orders from the Antonescu regime. I would like to know the name of the officer that was the commanding officer of the Guard at the time for the royal palace Any help is greatly appreciated |

Sorry Walter, but there was no previous Palace Coup against Antonescu ; Michael was already king of Romania (from September 6, 1940 to December 30, 1947). If there would have been such a coup, be sure that marshal Antonescu would have arrested Michael, and probably abolished the monarchy. The chief of the Royal Military House was Constantin Sanatescu (from March 20, 1943 to April 1st, 1944). He was also marshal of the Palace between April 1st, 1944 and August 23, 1944. After 23 August, Mocsony-Styrcea was named marshal of the Palace. Getu' |
