Hello to all of you!
I want to find new informations about this puppet state created by the italians in the norther teritory of Greece during the axis occupation of this country. As I know this puppet state was founded by Alchiviad Diamandi di Samarina, an aromanian who before the war he served as romanian secret agent in Athens nad was supervised by the greek authorities because of his intention to organise a uprising in the aromanians teritories of Epirus. After he became the lider of this puppet state he met Mareshall Ion Antonescu and Mihai Antonescu in Bucharest in the autumn of 1941 hoping to realize a state association between the Principality of Pindus and Moglena and Romania. The benefits of this assiciation it would be the privilege of Alchiviad Diamandi din Samarina to take part at the Crown Councils from Bucharest and at the Goverment Councils. The status quo of the Principality would remane the same( autonomus) but Antonescu rejected the offer because the country was having other problems( Transilvanya under hungarian occupation, the war against Soviet Union- Battle of Odessa). I have visited this region( Metsovo, Grevena, Korydallos, Ioannina, Kalabaka) in july this year and I have the occasion to ask some old people about the events. They told me that Alchiviad ordered that all the names of the villages of the Principality to be written in aromanian at the entrance and exist of the village. He interdicted the greek language too and the official language became the aromanian. I hope you can offer me new information about this interesting subject. If there are greek members on this forum I wish they will help me with new informations. I know that in Greece were published a few books on this subject( one of them is " Tes paides tes likanines" written by Stavros Papagiannis). Have someone read this book? Thank you! |
