It's a Romanian ammo box for 9mm cartridges (50 of them) made in 1944. The person that made the article knows more about Romanian cartridges and ammo boxes.

The SMG was in use until 1989 it was used by the Patriotic Guards together with a lot of other WWII guns.

I have edited (translated) this http://worldwar2.ro/images/content/orita.jpg drawing of an early Orita with the first type safety.
