my question is:

Are these items military or Civil issue? as I have a complete & unused container with Gasmask and filter at home including the instruction booklet.

Kevin,

They are civilian. Maybe Mihnea can post a pic of the German and Romanian military canisters. Very similar except the Romanian one is taller from the pic I have.

Hallo RHaught biggrin.gif

thanks for the quick reply, I know what the German one looks like as I have one.

I have a also a Romanan tin similar to what was on offer in the auction, in poor condition as well, it was used by a farmer for holding D.D.T.!!! ohmy.gif

I was also wondering if the Romanians carried the Gas mask in a bag in WW2.

The romanian army carried gas masks in bags but they also carried gase masks in canisters.

There are already two topics on Romanian gas masks blink.gif

I can only say that civilian gas masks (Md 35) are not rare and rather cheap.

I know about the other areas for gasmask canisters. biggrin.gif Hunting high and low for the military version (I have three German ones and one has the mask and spare lenses).
