Would the basic gear for a 1939 pattern consist of only two ammo pouches, pointed entrenching tool in leather carrier, bayonet and frog, a white metal or aluminum canteen ( also including German models ), and a brown leather belt with blackened plate buckle?

What about the gasmask bag and breadbag? What about y-straps? Looks like they were not used in the infantry unlike the German soldier.

What about the Md32 gas mask or the Md39b or Md43?

Y-straps:

And many other pictures, as you can see there are more types.

Figured the breadbag and gasmask bag were used. However, the description I received from Militaria (sent by a friend) didn't mention y-straps. Was curious to know for sure. Also, need as many pics of Romanian soldiers using German and Russian gear to add to portfolio/evidence to show the other reenactors here. They have to see at least 10 pics of each to actually believe it. Why, I have no clue since most of them have no idea on Romania's involvement in the war.

Mihnea, what do you think about the idea of getting together next year? Email me and let me know so I can start getting "permission" from the better half from Iasi! unsure.gif

Most pics showed artillery, mountain and cavalry with y-straps. For the basic kit on the sketch Kepi posted earlier the straps seem to be coming from the rucksack.
