I remember there have been several German and AH top officers KIA/WIA on various battlefields in Romania, some of them "blue-blooded". I'd like to know more about them. It also seems that Erwin Rommel, future 3rd Reich's Marshall, was WIA in Romania (he fought at Coshna, in Vrancea county, in 1916 - it seems that he described the battle in his memoirs, a victory from his viewpoint, in fact a stalemate !).

The book is entitled "Infantry Attacks" and was written by Rommel in 1935.
Coincidence - I was in a bookstore yesterday and was browsing through this book. Didn't end up buying it, but a good portion of it is indeed dedicated to WWI battles in Romania in which Rommel participated. He also included quite a few map sketches of various Romanian regions/battlefields.

Sounded interesting, but instead I opted for buying Otto Skorzeny's memoirs.

I remember I also browsed through it, but it's in Gothic characters ! I did not understand it at all (I do not know German ...). Rommel's updated picture, several sketches, and that's all useful for me. Did you find it in Romania ?

On 8 September, maj. general Kurt von Wenniger, CO of the German 18th Reserve Corps, was killed by an artillery shell in the Muncelul area.

As a side note, the future marshal Mannerheim of Finland commanded a Russian cavalry division on the front in Moldavia.
