In the "Aviation Histpry " magazine Nov 2007,there's an article about Barrie Davies.
Also the story about the confruntation between him and Ion Dobran. Mr Jon Guttmann, was kind to send us copies of the magazine. A few days ago, Dan Melinte and me,visited IOn Dobran . It was a pleasure like always only that I leave to Dan the posting of the photos, |

That particular confrontation was depicted on the cover of my book on Rumanian fighter aces, based on the story I pieced together from the recollections of and discussions with Messrs. Dobran and Davies:

As the attachment cannot be seen, I tried to copy the Internet address you offer. It cannot be accessed. So I guess the mistake is in typing the link. PS: This "PS" is added on January the 4th: I see you corrected it, and the photo is accessible now. This post has been edited by Florin on January 04, 2008 12:46 pm |

Yes Denes but you forgot also the discussion at Razvan Bujor (in his parents house) where you heard for the first time that Barry was shot by Lt.Dobran( from Dan Melinte reserch). Also Cornel Nastase was present there. Mr. Dobran knew the story before you published the book . Because he is gentleman ( he didn't want to disapoint you) he didn't tell you he has the story (on xerox pages) including Barrie Davies picture wich Melinte gave him in 2000 ( your book was published in 2004). In 2000 year, Melinte Dan toghether with a bunch of nice guys made a visit (for the first time) at Mr.Dobran house to omologate him the victory of 6 june'44. Based on the reserch made by Melinte Dan using info from Dobran diary book and from 325th Fg pilot Herky Green's book (The Memoirs of a Checkertail Ace) it was discovered that Barry Davies was the guy shot and wounded (with his plane written off) by Lt. Dobran on 6 june'44. The reserch changed the status of probably victory (for 6 june '44) with omologated victory ( in 2000). This post has been edited by Cantacuzino on January 05, 2008 08:14 pm |

Below is the one gave to Dan Melinte on the back side of an Bf 109 watch. Also Mr.Ion Dobran wrote the date of the visit 12-03-2000.
