Ah yes, anything to keep the fantasy going  Let's apply some critical sense : If Putin really did warn the US before invasion, why do you think US media never released the information while it could have had decisive public opinion impact and shifted UN attitude. Why does Putin wait 2 years to do so himself. Why does this story pops up when it can no longer have any visible or retroactive effect ? Security perhaps ? :rollroll: It is well known that the need to believe can have extraordinary effects like disabling critical sense. And the neocons badly need to believe for their whole shabby scafolding comes tumbling down week after week. No wonder they jump on any opportunity to keep the engine turning a little bit more. For what will they become, what will they believe in, the day the engine will stop ? |

Dear Chandernagore, Remember Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and many others? Oooooh, yeah....those guys! Forgot about them? Or are you trying to say the german, russian, and chinese were all happy to keep them in power? After all, their armies were made up of their own citizens, so according to you, the army could have kicked them out of power and change the regime. Come on, even you have to see the flaw in your statement. If you don't believe me, ask Florin, Victor, whoever grew up under communism in Romania. |

Dude, you are a pathological case. Now you don't believe Putin's statement (or Reuters, I'm not sure which). Just to keep pounding in your point of view over and over and over again. How exactly can one have a debate with you if you dismiss all the news which contradict your point of view, but you proudly mention all the news which support it? So now you're saying Putin is lying to protect Bush? :?: Have you noticed such a close friendship between Putin and Bush? |
_____________________________________________ Yeah; my first reaction is: Why? (Never mind if he did or did not make such a warning).. Why is he making this announcement?... Now? O.K., clearly, it bolsters Cheney's threadbare AQ connection "case". (if he ever had one). But what does Putin owe to/want from them? I don't get it. P. is one smart operator, that's for sure....something's up here. I'm no conspiricacy fan, but I smell oil....I wonder if P wants B&C to get Wall St. to give a pass to Yukos stock until Khodorkovsky is properly lynched. Yukos stock rallied yesterday by 42% !!!!! until trading was stopped!!!! Supposedly this was the result of Putin's statement that his govt. would not let the company go belly up. But if u stop to consider the absolute centrality of oil to the Russian economy, there's plenty of motivation to keep the industry well capitalized. Putin needs to whack the oligarchs wile he keeps the tap on. And it's not like B&C know nothing of the oil biz....hmmmm? :?: |
Dear Chandernagore,

Now ask yourself if you would prefer to trigger a nuclear war to topple that dictature or if you want to excercise other options. That's all I wanted to state. |

Agree. It doesn't make any sense. There something happening under the table. Not many indicators what it might be right now but oil & investments cannot be far away. |

Ah, hum  I'm quoting different people and just find it more simple to split reactions. It's funny how Bush admin has turned on Putin to materialize some of the eluding "damn solid" proves that Powell was agitating at the UN before the war  But, oooh we are being pathologically sceptical for not swallowing the big stinking fish  Mmm one needs blind faith to follow Great Leader where no liar has ever gone before. But, hey, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice (or one hundred times)... |

But so far, it was buried on page 3 o4 of the papers, and seems to have sunk like a stone, leaving not even a ripple. Maybe it'll resurface, but I doubt it. Now I don't which is more strange; the report or the disappearing act it pulled. |

It reminds me of the immediate post Saddam fall :successive WMD discovery "news" followed by a quiet, very discrete denial. They have been crying wolves too often. Now people only react with an amused shrug.
Next short lived scoop : how Saddam tortured kidnapped American children in Abu Ghraib basement while training legions of Islamic suicide bombers to destabilize the Atlantide. |
