Photoshopping fingerprint wink.gif
Notice the strident bright green pixels that have no business being there except for being the residue of crude photoshop operations.

QUOTE (valachus @ Dec 17 2004, 12:52 AM)
Pictures? Do you really want nothing less than "patriotic insurgents" in Iraq having armbands with their native country's flags on them? Corpses? Dead men tell no tales. Interviews? Well, there you have Zarqawi, the Jordanian, chanting, threatening and chopping heads off on TV on a weekly basis.
But, in addition to these trivial details, this neat INTER-NET thingy gives me a remarkable easy time finding truly remarkable hard evidence in support of my statements. Check this out:

Your "truly remarkable hard evidence" is as laughingly convincing as those used to demonstrate the volatility of WMDs biggrin.gif

A few clowns chopping off heads no matter how repeatedly don't constitute a force able to defend a city of 300.000 souls against the concentrated military might of a major power. There is a war going on , in the desert, in the cities. You tell me that the forces involved are tens of thousands of foreign elements. Where are the foreign prisoners taken in the (second) fall of Fallujah ? All dead, uh ? How convenient.

You just love it when ideology has replaced rational thinking.

Okay, have a nice Christmas too smile.gif

I thought it was simply because the background color of that cut&paste job was slightly different. Harmless fun anyway.

Chandernagore, you're right... It is pretty convenient to mix the "soup", to make us believe the all "terrorists" that oppose the Americans are chopping heads around there. Why, even the American media and military use two words "terrorists" and "insurgents"... Did they forgot that they are part-time insurgents, part time terrorists? smile.gif

QUOTE
Well, there you have Zarqawi, the Jordanian, chanting, threatening and chopping heads off on TV on a weekly basis.

And now again about this mastermind of terror, the prince of beheadings, the king of the inimaginable... When we talk about opposition in Irak there is only one answer: Al-Zarqawi... A religious fanatic that organized an incredible network of "insurgents" that fight for months against the most powerful military machine... Without ANY Iraqui support, just foreigners... Let's be serious... Again Al-Sadr was not Al-Qaida...

QUOTE
Your "truly remarkable hard evidence" is as laughingly convincing as those used to demonstrate the volatility of WMDs

To quote Rumsfeld:"We know where these WMD are: in north, in east of Iraq, around Tikrit". blink.gif And some people expect to fully trust these people...

Chandernagore, the fact is that the beheadings have a bigger impact, on the people's eye, than the inconsistent "truth" presented by "those in command". And after all, for some guys, 1000 American lives is a fare price for the control of one "of the richest country in the world".

QUOTE ("valachus")
But he said discussing attacks against U.S. troops in Iraq "will cause problems for the country's foreign policy. It will have grave consequences for our country and our group. It's confidential."

It is obviously convidential... That's why everybody knows... biggrin.gif

QUOTE
So if anything, the poll should NOT be titled "what iraqis feel about the US presence in Iraq" but rather "what the the iraqis are told by Al-Jazeera that's happening in their country".

You're right ... They should watch CNN and BBC to find out Iraqi reality... biggrin.gif Get serious... You expect them to do as you think smile.gif ... Well, the cruel reality is that they do as they want, as we do.
You just stick to this "black and white" presentation in Iraq while the story is in 'grey shades': Saddam was a cruel dictator, the American use 9/11 as a pretext to invade Irak for resources, terrorists are beheading people, insurgents fight against the Americans, the Americans try to find UN support after all this mess, Romania goes in Irak for political reasons, civilians die killed by the insurgents (to be read by many as terrorists rolleyes.gif), the American bombs kill civilians, a conflict between two cultures is rising - we are westerners - that's why we watch CNN and BBC and not AL-Jazerra and that's why the Irakis watch Al-Jazeera and not CNN and BBC,etc, etc. Well, we can give it a try wink.gif http://english.aljazeera.net/HomePage

And to bring the story in "our waters", does anybody know if Romania is questioning its military presence in Iraq?

Not the first article to confirm this but it is well packaged :

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/29/internat...0531d48&ei=5070

Conservative estimate is a solid 100.000 Iraki civilian casualties since invasion.

I have no doubt that the slaughter is morally justified by the need to eliminate the increasingly elusive foreign fighters and to kill Mister Terrorism. It's begining to look uncomfortably close to Saddam's own butcher's bill but, hey, that's the price of cheap oil garanties.

[QUOTE=Chandernagore,Dec 23 2004, 02:27 PM]Preparing for election :

My first thought was "good electoral strategy... dead men don't vote". But as we all know, that's not really true, is it? Sometimes they vote more than the living. laugh.gif

biggrin.gif Mmm would you be refering to some local die hard political habits ?

Seriously. No only they do not vote , but they do not organize elections. In that very special picture you can witness some of the organizers being shot in the morning daylight traffic. Quite amazing pic.

If some posts ago we speak about incindents in Irak, with underarmoured military patrol vehicles, look at this news:

"Armor Holdings, Inc. Awarded Up-Armored Vehicle Spare Parts Contract Valued at $49.9 Million

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Armor Holdings, Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of security products and vehicle armor systems serving law-enforcement, military, homeland security and commercial markets, announced today that it has received a new indefinite quantity and indefinite delivery contract award valued at nearly $50 million to provide spare parts for the U.S. Army Up-Armored HMMWV fleet.

The new contract was awarded by the Defense Logistics Agency for a three-year period with exact quantities to be determined based on needs for replacement components. The contract was accompanied by an initial award of $6.4 million and provides the Defense Logistics Agency with the ability to place additional orders on an as-needed basis over the next three years with an option to extend the contract for another two years.

Work under the contract is expected to be performed in 2005, 2006 and 2007 by Armor Holdings' facilities in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Robert Schiller, President and Chief Operating Officer of Armor Holdings, Inc., said, "As the size of the Up-Armored HMMWV fleet continues to grow, and as wear and tear on the Up-Armored HMMWV fleet continues, we expect to see increasing demand for spare parts under this contract. This contract provisions supplies as needed and provides the customer with certainty of supply. We are pleased to continue to serve our troops in harm's way."

Armor Holdings, Inc. is a diversified manufacturer of branded products for the military, law enforcement, and personnel safety markets. "

i have no confidence that the elections would do any good inside irak. are the political theorist so stupid as not to realize that one should not impose a political regime in any way....because to impose democracy is like saying that i am a peace-loving man and i will kill all those who are not...bullshit, imo....

HEYYYY........ I remember that lady! ohmy.gif

I wish that photo was the only parallel to VN war.

My prediction is we will muddle through somehow, and after an obscene number of people r dead, maimed and driven insane, we will move on and bring freedom to another deserving area....maybe China? no.....they would stop making t shirts for us.

I think if Bushies can get the the Sunnis to bite on this newest offer

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/26/internat...html?oref=login

AND, keep a leash on the Kurds, we might have a ballgame

cheers, hoping for better in 05', but don't blame me I'm a hopeless American opimist.
