I found on Wikipedia an article about Vasile Zottu. There it was a mention about "famous Günther list". From the context I presume that is a list with romanian traitors that assisted Central Powers in WW1. Can you help me with information about this list?

1. Guenther was a Austro-Hungarian spy who built an entire organization in Romania before WW1. He successfully bribed many Romanian in top positions (Army, newspapers, etc.), in the interest of the Central Powers.
On his list appear many interesting names: gen. Zottu (Chief of Staff), but also Constantin Mille (newspapers "Adevarul" and Dimineata", and even Ioan Slavici (newspaper "Minerva"). Guenther tried and almost succeeded in influencing part of the public opinion to be in favour of Germany and Austro-Hungary.
2. I started a thread on Romanian Intelligence Service as I am also interested to know how was Guenther "caught" in the act and what happened afterwards. Unfortunately, I see nobody is interested in it ! Romanian authorities were not so fool, after all. But some Romanian were on Guenther's paycheck list, this is quite clear, just like today !
3. It is very interesting to see how was possible that very intelligent Romanian work for the occupying force in WW1 : Tudor Arghezi, Gala Galaction, Ioan Slavici, Constantin Mille, Matei Caragiale, etc. At the trial, after the war, all they could say in their favour, was that they had a large family and they had to feed them (Arghezi, Galaction, Slavici). At least Arghezi and Galaction kissed King Carol II's ass, and after WW2, the communists' ass ! And both of them said the same thing: they had a large family and they had to feed them. Mercenaries !
