I found an interesting article about military operations in Kuban and Crimeea in '43 and '44.

http://www.evenimentulzilei.ro/investigati...?news_id=136237

Any opinions, comments, etc?

Unfortunatelly, the article is available only in Romanian language sad.gif

Well, reading this article I REALLY ASK MYSELF: DO WE REALLY UNDERSTAND the sufferings of the Romanian soldier in his WWII intranchements? I remember my grandfather (that was a member of the Romanian 1st Armored Division and lived the events on Don's River Bend) ... sometimes he's crying... nobody knows why and he never wants to talk about... All he said was something like : "I hope that nobody will live what I liked! I hope that nobody will live what I lived!". That's all... NOTHING ELSE! Since the winter of '42-'43 he's almost deaf... 'cause of the tank's gun  ... he's living in his world...
I just do not understand him. He had also three cousins that died on the Eastern Front ... He was about 22,23 years old in '42 ...
He was demobilized in June '44. He fought on the Eastern front for three years... Whean asking for a pension, the Comunist Guvernment told him "You fought by yourself on the Eastern Front and you dare to ask for a veteran pension?" ... No comment ...

Unfortunately, during socialist era, only veterans who fought in the Western Campaign could be called "veterans" and have the right to receive a pension.
