Hi,
General Platon Chirnoaga was mentioned in the tread about the competence of Romanian generals. Does anyone know when he died?

Kind Regards

Steen,

I'm still looking for the answer to your question. So far, what I found out was that General Chirnoaga became a member of Romania's so-called "exiled government" in Vienna in 1944 and thereafter. This group was formed mostly from Iron Guard prominent members who fled from Romania.

So, anyway, Chirnoaga must have deserted or fled from Romania probably soon after August 23, 1944. I still don't know how/when he died....I'll let you know when I find out more info.

Brig. Gen. Platon Chirnoaga, born in 1894, C/O of the 4th Infantry Division, was captured on 20 october 1944, nearby Szolnok, Hungary.
In 1970, he was still alive, living in Spain.

Steen, Serban Ionescu's Who Was Who in Twentieth Century Romania (Columbia Univeristy Press, 1994) shows Platon Chirnoaga, born 1894 and died 1974.

sorry about the delay...hopefully, better late then never, yes? %-)
