I haven't seen yet such a bi-coloured 'petlita'. What would it symbolise? Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on February 19, 2008 03:42 pm |

A plane crash. A fire. A PZL-11 or 24. I don't know details. My grandfather and his brother died when I was a baby. I know just fire, burned face and jump with parachute.
A bi-coloured 'petlita' symbolise a red pencil in hand of my mother 55 years ago. Excuse please my english. |

There were two related incidents. The first had happened at Cluj, on 12 April 1939. The P.Z.L. P.11b engaged in a 'vrille' (spin) and crashed. At that time, Adj. stag. av. Marin Stavarache was part of Gr. 1 vân. [Source: Combat Diary of Flot. 1 vân.] The second incident happened on 10 May 1940 [the Rumanian Kingdom's National Day]. This time, two P.Z.L. P.11s collided during exercises. Both pilots, including Marin Stavarache (this time an Adj. maj. av.) bailed out and were wounded. That sad day, another pair of P.11s crashed in unknown circumstances, this time both pilots being killed. Would anyone happen to know the serial numbers of these 5 fighter airplanes? I don't have any further entries for Marin Stavarache. However, I do have an info on Adj. sef av. Androne Stavarache, an I.A.R. 81C pilot of Gr. 2 vân., who was killed in action on 25 Sept. 1944 over Turda, in a bloody air combat with Luftwaffe fighters. Was he also a relative of yours? Gen. Thank you very much, Mr. Denes, for those informations. Can you scan and post here those pages from Combat Diary?
Androne Stavarache is not our relative. Just same name. I think so. Here back of second photo. This post has been edited by MRX on February 14, 2014 04:35 pm |
