The collision happened in the air, and both pilots escaped with parachute (bailed out).

Was the white headgear (in combination with the blue-grey airforce uniform) specific for the interwar (pre 1941) period? What about the white ceremonial uniform (like that in the second picture from the first page)? Thank you!
