QUOTE
Combinations Wish List (thinking out loud):

Making progress with the blitz, but looks like I’ll probably get held up by the delivery of the snow chains which are on order, and the Jerry cans, also on order for 7 weeks now. Talking of ordering, I made some purchases today to ensure I have all the ACE limited run kits I want before they are totally sold out.

So, as I’ll be held up, I need to plan the next project, and ensure I have the right kits in my stash, not to mention having the correct research material on hand.

Having looked at hundreds, maybe thousands of photos over the years, one thing strikes me personally and sticks in my mind. Not Tanks, tanks and more tanks, instead, streams of trucks towing guns of various types towards the front (or in retreat!). Nor am I struck by unusual vehicles, instead, what sticks in my mind are the familiar shapes… the Opel Blitz, the Horch 1a, The Sdkfz 10 Demag.

This is especially true of photos from North Africa. And in these photos they are often shown towing familiar guns, mostly the light flak guns.

So, thats what I’d really love to do justice to - those vehicles which were the work horses of the DAK.

So I have my Opel Blitz. I’m thinking that I’d like to show this towing the Pak 38.
I can really think of no other combination better evven though I have seen them towing a number of other stuff.

Attack do a Pak 38 and a number of other guns, and from examining the pictures, I feel these are going to be the best on the market - from this I will probably be able to set the benchmark for detail right out of the box. . . . . .

After finding the above information, a further search took me to another modeling website:-

From this picture above, it appears there was considerable reworking of the Horch's rear deck area, to take the weight. I would love to see one in action, and see how it handled the recoil of the cannon when she was being fired.

But so far I have not managed to locate any pictures from the actual period.

If anybody has them please post them smile.gif

Hallo Gents, biggrin.gif

with regards the US Dodge, it seems the Americans kept the cannon on the rear deck lower to the ground, thus avoiding the problems with regards the center of gravity and thus providing a more stable gun-deck.

It might be romanian Stug during the turn of 44-45.

Its a StuG-III Ausf F - I'm pretty certain the Romanians only got G's. In the earlier part of the war StuG Abteilung marked their guns with letter which was standard practice for the Artillery arm. Ive ver seen any pics of Romanian StuGs marked in the same style

Cheers

There are lots of pics of the 2 cm Flak 38 auf Horch, they were used in North Africa I believe by Flak Abt 606(mot) although there are other opinions. Here is one pic. Alan
