Gents,
I want to share with you some very nice scans from my collection. To be more precise, I will show articles written by PK men, and published only in the Romanian version of the "Der Adler". Enjoy. Cheers, Al |

By the looks of the photos it seems that the last two pages posted present a photo-shoot with the 52nd Fighter Squadron based on the Mamaia airfield. The pilot looking through the optical sights looks very much like cpt. av. Horia Agarici.
The first page depicts images for the Stalingrad Front. From memory, the airplane crashing is in fact a Romanian He-111 shot down above Stalingrad. The photo was taken by from the He-111 flown by cpt. av. Ion Profir. |

Great pictures. If I may offer a scanning tip here. When scanning images that have print/pictures on both sides, you can sometimes see the reverse side show through, as you can see on your image of the JIS.79. To prevent this, you should place a piece of dark paper on the back side of the image being scanned. This will stop the very bright light of the scanner from shining through, revealling the image on the reverse side.
Just a tip. Try it out and see. |

Guys,
Thank you very much for your feedback, and also for the tips on the scanning procedures. I will apply them next time. Cheers, Al |

I also had the same impression (without checking my references). By the way, the officer in centre, standing in front of the I.A.R. 80's tail, is Cpt. av. Lucian Toma. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on May 31, 2008 07:49 pm |

Sorry, but I don't think is him. I met Mr. Pop several times, I have photos of him from his pilot's years, but it doesn't look like him. BTW, wasn't the falcon (Ilie?) the mascot of a Savoia bomber squadron? Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on May 31, 2008 10:03 pm |

It makes sense if the photos are of the 52nd Squadron. |

You are right Victor. That photo was made by cpt Teodoru Eugen on 5 october 1942, when 3 patrols (3x3 planes) made a bombing mission over Stalingrad. In memoriam: cpt. Holban Mihail (pilot) slt rez Dumitru Ioan (observer) mstr Ion C Marin (RTT -- radiotelegrafist) sgt maj Apostol Gheorghe (gunner) sgt Horoias Ghorghe (gunner) maistru mecanic Corbu Nicolae (he was a ground personnel but wanted to see Stalingrad...) RIP Slt Marinescu Eugen saw that picure in Aripi Romanesti with the same legend.
