For the Aerofanatics amongst us
Air show scheduled late July by Oana Ghita The Ministry of National Defense will organize the RoIAS International Show on July 29 and 30 at the Mihail Kogalniceanu airfield in Constanta. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also collaborated with the authorities for the organization of the event. The RoIAS show takes place to celebrate the centennial of Romanian pilot Traian Vuia's first flight and is considered to be one of the most impressive manifestations of its kind to take place in Romania in the last five years. The centennial will be celebrated throughout other events, but the air show that is to take place in Constanta is the highlight of the anniversary. The air show will include 100 civilian and military planes and 1,000 specialists entertaining the crowd for a day. According to the RoIAS official Web site, eight countries have confirmed their presence at the event, along with three teams of air acrobats. Teams from Macedonia, Greece, Holland and Serbia will participate in the show. The schedule includes individual performances as well as team performances of the civilian and military pilots. Also, representatives of the aviation industry will have stands set up to provide information. This year's show marks the second edition of the RoIAS event. The first edition encompassed performances of 120 airplanes on August 25 and 26, 2001 and was also staged in Constanta.
