Hi, guys! Can one of you to tell me what was the OOB of romanian army in July and August 1940 in Transylvania only? I'm also interested about number of romanian tanks and airplanes deployed to defend Transylvania in the period mentioned above.
Thank you very much! Bogdan |

Is it true that there was a plan to retreat along the Carpathians and resist in Transylvania against all enemies in the same time? (all enemies meaning Soviet Union, Germany and Hungary).
If you learn about this for the first time, you have to know that I did not read about this. I can detail about source if you really did not heard this before. |

Defence plan Horea from 1936 and Avram Iancu from 1938 were based on some hypotesis regarding the atacks against Romania. Most hypotesis were based on the suposition that simultaneus atacks will occure, in various combinations: soviet-bulgarian, soviet-hungarian, soviet-bulgarian-hungarian, even a german-hungarian or german-hungarian-soviet one, only the weight of the atacks being diferent. In the hypotesis of a soviet-hungarian atack, the romanian army intention was to slow the russian atack on east, meanwhile stoping the hungarian advance in west, counteratack it and gain a fast victory in west, afterwards turning on soviets in order to resist enough until help will arive.
All plans assesed that against bulgarians and hungarians resistance and victory was posible and 100% sure if soviet presure was not too great. Of course that against a soviet atack Carpathian Mountains played a great role. |

Also I am assuming that the defense plans created in 1936 and 1938 hoped in the functionality of the network of alliances linking Romania across Europe with nations having same interests. Unfortunately, by June 1940 most partners of these alliances ceased to exist, and others (Yugoslavia, for example) reached closer links with Germany than Romania had in the summer of 1940. Yes, the aliances were taken in consideration, because Romania alone was unable to win against soviets, so a relief force was needed.
