I just stumbled across this new title by Osprey:
http://www.ospreypublishing.com/store/The-...I_9781846033247

However, the soldiers featured on the cover look to me as Rumanian, not Hungarian! It will be quite embarrassing if the book will be actually published with this cover...

You are correct about the soldiers on the cover looking Romanian.

Checking my books I found the 3 images in Osprey's previous publication "The Romanian army of world war 2" (Men-at-Arms series, No. 246) by Axworthy & Serbanescu.

The soldiers depicted feature in Plates C (No. 3), B (No. 3) & D (No. 1).

Hope this reply comes out OK - it's my first.

Besides the cover depiction, another apparent error to me is the book's description. Following the link provided by Denes, one can read "About this book
The Royal Hungarian Army was Germany’s largest ally on the Eastern Front..."

I can not quote exact figures (my old notebooks are not available to me now) but my recollection is that the RHA support to The Crusade Against Bolshevism was less than the support provided by the Royal Romanian Army.

The only context in which the respective statement is true, is if its author considers the period between Aug. 23, 1944 and the end WW2 only.

Also as I recall, unlike Antonescu, during the conflict Horthy brought back in country many of his troops, consitenlty reducing the effectives engaged in front line operation.

The soldiers are romanian indeed. This is an error because they took some types of the book about the romanian army in WW2 (MAA Nr. 246) and put on the cover of the book about the hungarian army. An astonishing error! ohmy.gif

However, the author of the plates, Darko Pavlovic is a very good and professional artist. I would like very much to read this book... smile.gif

And vice-versa.
BTW, that's logical, isn't it. After all, the names of both cities start with Bu... and end with ...est. laugh.gif

You have a strong point here !! wink.gif

We should get in the equation also Bu .. lgaria. Very often rock bands playing at Bucharest have used the expression: Hello Bulgaria, we love you ... blink.gif laugh.gif
