Hallo Gents,
Sunday July 20th I was in Brasov, when I spotted the following on display:- Anybody care to post opinions? I don't like the dark chocolate finish of the one on the right (first pic ) or the detail. The seller wanted 180 Euro each for the medals and 100 Euro for the empty box. I also got to meet fellow member Seeker at the meeting, were there any other WW2.ro Forum members there?? Kevin in Deva. |

I spoken with a friend that was at Brasov, and he told me that there were a lot of fakes, especially Michael the Brave and Air force orders, I understood that here was an Aeronautical Order in commander class, a very good fake, very hard to tell.
The third class medal in original, but the first class I am not sure. This post has been edited by Claudiu1988 on July 21, 2008 06:03 pm |

In my opinion both medals are genuine and beautiful! Only the price is utopistic!
Medal + box = 280 Euro !!!!! Maybe in 2-3 years it will be realistic! The left one is made by Weiss and the right one by the National Mint (there could be a hallmark-"monetaria nationala" on the rim). Te colour is also ok. |

Yes, there were fakes, and not only the fakes of III Reich fantasy pieces, I personally saw on different tables, 4 sets of the 5 classes of the Communist period, Ordinul <<Meritul Agricol>> 1974, asking price per set 500 Euro. 4 Sets X 5 Pieces = 20 pieces and not one original box, and no sign of any wear. Nor was any dealer willing to allow them to be photographed, I wonder what they are afraid off. Kevin in Deva |

As far as I know, the Agricultural Merit orders are originals. A dealer told me some time ago that he bought about 30 sets of all classes from a deposit a long time ago. He was complaining that he sold very few sets so far.
It's a rare order but no one is interested in it. I've seen the fake Aeronautical Order, it's very well made, the enamel looked good, maybe too good. The order had no ribbon and the metal was "colored" by heating. I couldn't make any pictures. The seller didn't kept it on table. Maybe he will come to the fair in Iasi this week and I'll try to take some pictures. -------------------- ~

One of the dealers in Brasov, actually admitted to me, the (the Agricultural Merit orders) were recently made from the original dies, but, they cant get the enamel colour exactly the same as the originals. Oldest trick in the book to have a dealer say he bought them from a deposit, or discovered them forgotton in a old factory all originals as they want to sell them on for big money, and these are not the only Communist period orders being faked.
