I am launching this topic to search for more information about german radars transfered to romanian army during the WW2.
I saw in another topic (WWII Romanian AA defence sistem) a picture with a Wurzburg radar with a romanian crew (courtesy from Dan Melinte). If anybody has more informations and especially pictures about this subject, please post it here. |

As I know, 20 Wurzburg radars were bought by Romanian army in september 1943. What was their locations?
Does anybody have some pictures with them? This post has been edited by bogdymar on January 18, 2009 09:05 am |

Is this going to be like that scene from Spartacus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOCsNrzlV2k&feature=related In the book "Third Axis Fourth Ally", on page 313, there is a brief mention: "On 8 March 1944 they [Germany] agreed to the immediate delivery of twenty Wurzburg radar sets to the Romanians, and crews were trained in theor operation, but it is unclear whether any became operational." Wurzburg FuSe 62 manned be romanian AA crew. In 1944 romanians AA regiments had 18 Wurzburgs : 8 around Bucharest , 3 near Constanta, 2 at Cernavoda bridge, and 5 around Ploesti. ( Germans AA in Romania had 24 Wurzburg). Info from "Dosarele Istoriei" nr 9, 2001 author Valeriu Avram. This info and the picture of one romanian operated Wurzburg is posted at the link below. How many pictures do you want? Nobody stop you or other people to add info or pictures to the allready open thread. But to split in two is nonsense. http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?sh...c=2509&hl=radar This post has been edited by Cantacuzino on January 18, 2009 04:26 pm |

What happened with these radars after August 23, 1944?
Were they confiscated by our new great friend, Soviet Union, the same way like countless other items? |

In august 1949 was born the first romanian Radar Company, with 3 Wurtzburg 39T(D) radars. I thing the other radars were destroyed, broken or use as spare parts during the war.
