Several years ago, when I was first becoming interested in Romanian awards & badges, I purchased this ribbon bar, thinking that the last ribbon on the right may have been Romanian.
I have, hopefully, identified the other 5 ribbons (all being German) as follows: 1, Iron Cross, class 2; 2, War Merit Cross for combatants; 3, Winter Campaign in the East; 4, Medal for the Return of Memel; 5, Luftwaffe Loyal Service (25 years?). I would be please if someone could a - confirm my identification of the first 5 medals, and b - offer an opinion or identification of the sixth ribbon. Thanks - Alan |

The last ribbon is from the bulgarian Military Order for Bravery

Hallo b737 the first bar you show, has me concerned, the order of medals at the end being wrong the Romanian award should be at the end, being a foreign award to a German soldier, I do not like the shape of the device on the blue military service ribbon, and the unevenness of the ribbons when viewed along the top might be an indication that this bar has been messed with. I suspect it has a simple backing plate to the rear, held by tabs, and these are very easily fooled with, could you please post a picture of the rear? Kevin in Deva. |

Thank you for the quick response. Just out of interest do you have an image of the Bulgarian Military Order for Bravery? |

Hi Kevin, maybe you're right! I have bought them in the 90's for a few DM, at a flea market. Sorry but I don't have the bars anymore! This post has been edited by b737 on September 01, 2008 12:23 pm |

Just to make a little correction on Kevin's photos:
The first is indeed "soldiers cross", the lowest grades of the Bravery order /this type has 4 grades/. The last photo is officer's order for Bravery, IV grade II Class. The second photo is not at all Bulgarian IMO. The 3rd photo shows lowerst grade of the Military Merit order, not Bravery. I think it is 6 grade. |
